Iran’s Foreign Minister Pays Tribute to Ali Larijani, Hails Him as a Pillar of National Thought

Iran’s Foreign Minister

Tehran, The Gulf Observer: Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has paid tribute to veteran statesman Ali Larijani, stating that his loss represents not only the passing of an individual but the absence of a major intellectual and national pillar.

In a message issued on Tuesday to mark the 40th day since Larijani’s martyrdom, Araghchi said the former Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council is being missed more than ever. He described Larijani as a figure who combined courage, patience, and wisdom in both domestic governance and international affairs.

According to the foreign minister, Larijani viewed politics not merely as a pursuit of power but as a domain of ethical responsibility and historical rationality. Araghchi noted that this perspective was evident in Larijani’s decisive actions during critical moments, as well as his restraint and composure under pressure.

He further highlighted Larijani’s leadership during sensitive periods, emphasizing his ability to make firm decisions while maintaining calm and measured patience in the face of challenges.

Araghchi added that Larijani’s role extended beyond that of a senior official or diplomat, portraying him as a reassuring intellectual reference point within Iran’s decision-making framework.

Larijani, a prominent Iranian political figure and top security official, was assassinated along with his son and aides in an Israeli attack near Tehran on March 17, 2026.
