Iran’s Zarif and Qatar’s PM Discuss Regional Developments at World Economic Forum in Davos

Tehran, The Gulf Observer: Iran’s Vice-President for Strategic Affairs Mohammad Javad Zarif held talks with Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, on Wednesday to discuss key developments in West Asia, including the ongoing crises in Gaza and Syria.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 2025 World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland, according to a statement released by Qatar’s Foreign Ministry. The two leaders engaged in discussions about various regional issues, with a particular focus on the situation in Gaza and the occupied Palestinian territories, as well as broader topics of mutual interest.
In their discussions, Zarif commended Qatar’s significant role in facilitating a ceasefire agreement in Gaza and the successful exchange of Israeli and Palestinian prisoners.
Qatar, in collaboration with the United States and Egypt, played a pivotal role in mediating the ceasefire deal announced on January 15. The ceasefire, which came into effect four days later, marked a significant de-escalation of the conflict after over 15 months of intense Israeli military action on Gaza. It also paved the way for the delivery of much-needed humanitarian aid to the region.
Zarif’s visit to Davos follows a series of meetings with global leaders, including Iraq’s Prime Minister, the President of Serbia, and Norway’s Foreign Minister, among others.
The meeting underscored the strengthening of Tehran-Doha relations, with both parties expressing their commitment to continued collaboration on regional and international issues.
