Kazakh President Tokayev Meets Myanmar Prime Minister Min Aung Hlaing in Moscow

Moscow, The Gulf Observer: President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held a meeting with Prime Minister of Myanmar Min Aung Hlaing in Moscow as part of his official engagements in the Russian capital, according to media reports.

During the meeting, President Tokayev extended heartfelt condolences to the people of Myanmar and to Prime Minister Min Aung Hlaing over the recent devastating earthquake that claimed numerous lives. He expressed solidarity with the Myanmar government and conveyed Kazakhstan’s compassion during this difficult time.

Highlighting the historical ties between the two nations, President Tokayev remarked, “Kazakhstan and Myanmar have always maintained friendly relations, based on mutual respect and trust.” He emphasized the importance of further enhancing this partnership, particularly in the context of emerging global and regional dynamics.

The discussion focused on unlocking the untapped trade and investment potential between Kazakhstan and Myanmar. President Tokayev proposed facilitating reciprocal visits by business representatives to lay the groundwork for broader economic cooperation. He also underscored Kazakhstan’s readiness to explore joint initiatives across various sectors.

In response, Prime Minister Min Aung Hlaing expressed appreciation for Kazakhstan’s support and reaffirmed Myanmar’s interest in fostering future collaboration. He noted that both countries stood to benefit from deeper engagement in economic and political spheres.

The two leaders discussed concrete opportunities for cooperation in key areas such as petrochemicals, agriculture, digital technologies, and transport and logistics. Both sides acknowledged the importance of diversifying economic relations and leveraging each other’s strategic geographical positions.

This meeting follows recent diplomatic outreach by President Tokayev, including his invitation to Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro to undertake a state visit to Kazakhstan, reflecting the country’s broader efforts to enhance global partnerships.
