Kazakh Prime Minister Outlines Key Tasks for Rural Healthcare Modernization Project

Astana, The Gulf Observer: At today’s Government meeting, Kazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov set forth a series of tasks to accelerate the implementation of the Rural Healthcare Modernization National Project, according to media reports.
The ambitious project, initiated by the Head of State, aims to significantly expand healthcare access in rural areas by establishing modern first aid posts in more than 650 rural settlements. Prime Minister Bektenov emphasized that the initiative is designed to enhance the quality of medical services in remote regions through the use of advanced medical equipment.
To support the initiative, the Government has allocated 120 billion tenge for the construction of primary healthcare facilities and an additional 31 billion tenge for the reconstruction of district hospitals. The President of Kazakhstan has also directed the use of resources from the Special State Fund to ensure the effective development of the project. Over 31 billion tenge from the Fund has already been directed towards the construction of 145 primary care facilities and 13 interdistrict hospitals.
According to officials, construction work has been completed in five regions: Kostanay, Kyzylorda, Mangistau, North Kazakhstan, and Turkistan.
Prime Minister Bektenov instructed the Ministry of Healthcare to carry out weekly monitoring of the progress in constructing all 188 healthcare facilities, as well as the reconstruction of hospitals. Regional administrations (akimats) were directed to ensure the timely commissioning of all planned healthcare projects.
As previously reported, Kazakhstan plans to complete the construction of 188 rural healthcare facilities by the end of the year, marking a major step toward reducing the urban-rural healthcare gap and ensuring equitable access to medical services nationwide.
