Kazakhstan and Hungary Discuss Strengthening Energy Cooperation

Astana, The Gulf Observer: Kazakhstan’s Energy Minister Almassadam Satkaliyev and Hungary’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó held a meeting in the Kazakh capital Astana on Monday, focusing on the current state and future prospects for the two countries’ energy sectors.
The discussions centered on strengthening cooperation in energy, with special emphasis placed on the collaboration between KazMunayGas and MOL Group in the oil and gas industry. Both parties underscored the significance of developing the Rozhkovskoye gas condensate field, a joint project involving the two companies. The supply of Kazakhstani oil to Hungary through the Druzhba pipeline was also addressed, with both sides agreeing to initiate trial oil supplies in 2025.
The Kazakh delegation expressed particular interest in Hungary’s expertise in producing dry cooling towers for nuclear power plants, especially those used by MVM Group.
Following the meeting, both sides affirmed their commitment to promoting mutually beneficial relations in the energy sector. Plans were set in motion to implement the agreements reached during the discussions.
In addition, Kazakhstan and Hungary are set to collaborate on nuclear studies, further enhancing their strategic partnership in the field of energy.
