Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan Reaffirm Strategic Partnership, Discuss Digitalization and Regional Stability

Astana, The Gulf Observer: Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on Sunday met with Saida Mirziyoyeva, Head of the Presidential Administration of Uzbekistan, to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation and advancing the strategic partnership between the two neighboring countries.

According to the Akorda press service, President Tokayev highlighted the significance of Mirziyoyeva’s visit in deepening ties between Astana and Tashkent, emphasizing the important role presidential administrations play in fostering closer cooperation.

“We consider your visit highly beneficial for the development of cooperation between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan,” Tokayev said, expressing support for active working contacts between the presidential administrations of both countries. He noted that stronger interaction would contribute to stability in Central Asia and reinforce regional cooperation, given the pivotal role of both nations in the region.

The Kazakh leader stressed the importance of peace and security for the successful implementation of reforms, describing both countries as being at a crucial stage of development.

President Tokayev also noted that 2026 has been designated as the Year of Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence in Kazakhstan. Recalling his visit to Bukhara, he praised Uzbekistan’s progress in digital transformation and artificial intelligence, underscoring the need for both countries to keep pace with rapid global technological advancements.

During the meeting, Tokayev conveyed his warm regards to Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

Mirziyoyeva, in turn, thanked the Kazakh president for the meeting and delivered greetings from President Mirziyoyev. She said Uzbekistan places great importance on expanding comprehensive cooperation with Kazakhstan and closely monitors the implementation of bilateral agreements and joint initiatives.

She described Kazakhstan as a reliable ally and praised the reforms underway in the country, noting that cooperation between the two nations is contributing to stability and sustainable development across Central Asia while strengthening the region’s collective voice on the global stage.

The two sides also discussed opportunities to expand cooperation in trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian fields. Additionally, they exchanged views on ongoing political and socio-economic reforms being carried out in both countries.
