Kazakhstan’s Amir Omarkhanov Rises to 4th in ITF Juniors Rankings

Astana, The Gulf Observer: The International Tennis Federation (ITF) has released its updated junior singles rankings, with Kazakhstani players making significant strides.

Seventeen-year-old Amir Omarkhanov climbed ten spots to secure 4th place, entering the ITF Juniors top-5 for the first time in his career. The milestone follows a successful 2024 season, during which Omarkhanov claimed victory at the J300 Beijing Juniors Tournament and triumphed in three major doubles events, including the prestigious Orange Bowl, often regarded as the unofficial world championship.

Sixteen-year-old Zangar Nurlanuly made an impressive leap of 36 positions to rank 38th in the ITF Juniors. His achievements in 2024 include three major singles titles at J100 Izmir, J200 Shymkent, and J100 Aizkraukle.

Another rising talent, Damir Zhalgasbay, advanced to 112th place, approaching the top 100. Zhalgasbay’s standout performance came with his victory at the J100 Krakow tennis tournament last year.

As previously reported, Omarkhanov, Nurlanuly, and Zhalgasbay are set to compete in the Australian Open 2025 qualification, showcasing Kazakhstan’s growing presence in junior tennis.
