Mass Exodus in Gaza’s Deir al Balah as Israeli Assault Triggers New Wave of Displacement
Gaza City, The Gulf Observer: Thousands of residents in Gaza are fleeing to the Mawasi area following new evacuation orders issued by Israeli forces for Deir al Balah and Khan Younis. The ongoing conflict has led to a severe humanitarian crisis, with the situation on the ground becoming increasingly dire.
Jacob Granger, Project Coordinator for Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), described the situation as “inhumane,” highlighting the severe hardships faced by those displaced. “People have no belongings left, nowhere left to go. There is no room to put tents up. The overcrowding, severe lack of water, and minimal sanitation services are fueling the spread of diseases. We are unable to keep up with the overwhelming needs,” Granger stated.
From July 1 to August 21, Israeli forces in Gaza have issued at least 16 evacuation orders, resulting in widespread displacement. Nearly 2 million people, representing over 85% of the local Palestinian population, have been forced to leave their homes, often relocating multiple times in search of safety.
The situation in Gaza continues to deteriorate, with humanitarian organizations struggling to provide adequate assistance to those affected by the conflict.
