Moroccan Minister of Higher Education Praises UAE-Morocco Educational Cooperation
Rabat, The Gulf Observer: Abdul Latif Al-Mirawi, Morocco’s Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation, expressed pride in the strong collaboration between educational and academic institutions in the UAE and Morocco. He emphasized that these relations exemplify the unique and historical ties between the two nations, characterized by continuous progress and prosperity across various sectors.
Minister Al-Mirawi made these remarks during a reception for a delegation from the General Secretariat of the Khalifa Award for Education at his office in Rabat. The delegation included Mohammed Salem Al Dhaheri, a member of the Khalifa Award for Education’s Board of Trustees; Amal Al Afeefi, Secretary-General of the Award; Dr. Suad Al Suwaidi, Deputy Secretary-General of the Award; Dr. Khalid Al Abri, a member of the Award’s Executive Committee; and Hamid Ibrahim, also a member of the Award’s Executive Committee.
During the meeting, Al Dhaheri highlighted that since its inception in 2007, the Khalifa Award for Education has significantly enriched the educational landscape in the UAE, the Arab world, and beyond by fostering a culture of excellence.
Al Afeefi acknowledged Morocco’s successful participation in various editions of the Award and expressed gratitude for Minister Al-Mirawi’s support in promoting the Award and raising awareness about its categories for the upcoming 18th session in 2024-2025.
Dr. Al Suwaidi presented an overview of the current session’s fields, particularly the Higher Education category, which recognizes outstanding contributions from university professors, academics, and researchers. Other categories discussed included Educational Research, Educational Authorship for Children, and Innovative Educational Projects and Programmes.
Dr. Al Abri emphasized that the Award encompasses a diverse range of categories, inviting talented educators, administrators, and researchers to participate and showcase their innovative initiatives as models in the educational sector.
Ibrahim underscored the Award’s commitment to integrating advanced technology and artificial intelligence in education, noting the pivotal role AI plays in evaluating candidates’ projects. He encouraged participants to leverage innovative technologies and launch initiatives that meet the evolving demands of the education sector.
The meeting concluded with the delegation presenting the Award shield to Minister Al-Mirawi in appreciation of his efforts in supporting the Award’s initiatives.
