Morocco Officially Launches 5G Network Nationwide

ISLAMABAD, Nov 7 (APP): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday expressed gratitude to the overseas Pakistanis as the foreign remittances surpassed $3.4 billion, marking an 11.9 percent increase in October. The prime minister, in a statement, said that a consistent rise in remittances reflected the trust expatriates had in the government’s policies. “Overseas Pakistanis are our invaluable assets, serving the nation and country by sending their hard-earned money,” he remarked.

Rabat, The Gulf Observer: Morocco entered the 5G era today as the country’s three leading telecommunications operators — Maroc Telecom, Orange, and inwi — officially launched fifth-generation mobile services across the nation.

Maroc Telecom informed its subscribers of the rollout via SMS and social media, while Orange and inwi simultaneously announced extensive 5G coverage throughout Morocco.

According to Orange, approximately 100 cities will benefit from immediate access to 5G services, with gradual expansion planned to reach the entire national territory.

Inwi confirmed that its 5G network is available to all mobile users “immediately and at no additional cost.” The company clarified that existing SIM cards are already compatible with 5G technology, allowing users with 5G-enabled smartphones in covered areas to instantly experience the enhanced connectivity.

To mark the launch, inwi introduced new prepaid and postpaid packages tailored to various data needs, along with the “5G i-Box,” a plug-and-play home Wi-Fi solution offering ultra-fast, stable, and secure internet for remote work, gaming, and streaming.

In the corporate sector, inwi Business unveiled its “5G Business Connect” solution, supporting advanced industrial applications such as connected machinery, remote maintenance, and digital twin systems under the Industry 4.0 framework. Public services, including telemedicine, are also expected to benefit from the new network.

Meanwhile, Orange Maroc emphasized that 5G technology will revolutionize both personal and professional digital experiences. For businesses, it will enable real-time collaboration, remote equipment control, process automation, and faster digital transformation. “With ultra-fast and stable connectivity, companies gain agility, competitiveness, and innovation capacity — ready to face future challenges and explore new markets,” the operator stated. Users only need a compatible device to switch to 5G, supported by new, customized plans.

The nationwide rollout of 5G positions Morocco among Africa’s digital frontrunners, fostering innovation, inclusion, and competitiveness. The initiative not only strengthens key sectors such as healthcare, education, and industry but also enhances the country’s attractiveness as a hub for technology and investment.

Accelerated by preparations for major upcoming events, including the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and the 2030 FIFA World Cup, the expansion reflects Morocco’s broader strategy to modernize its national communications infrastructure and align with global standards in connectivity and broadcasting.
