Rabat, The Gulf Observer: Morocco’s draft Finance Bill (PLF) for 2027 will focus on accelerating economic growth, reducing regional disparities, advancing social reforms, and maintaining stable public finances, according to a government policy note issued ahead of the national budget preparation process.

The guidance note, circulated by the Head of Government to ministries, states that the 2027 budget is aligned with the strategic priorities outlined by King Mohammed VI in his Throne Day address. It emphasizes the government’s commitment to financing major national projects while promoting sustainable and inclusive long-term development.

According to the policy framework, the draft budget seeks to consolidate Morocco’s recent economic achievements and strengthen the country’s position among emerging economies. It also prioritizes territorial development through continued investment in infrastructure and public services, with the objective of narrowing social and regional inequalities through an integrated development strategy.

The government further underscored its intention to continue major structural reforms, particularly those aimed at strengthening Morocco’s social state. These include expanding social protection programs, improving the quality of public services, and ensuring the sustainability of public finances to support long-term economic resilience.

The policy note highlights that the proposed budget reflects King Mohammed VI’s vision for a renewed economic, social, and environmental development model that balances ambitious national goals with prudent fiscal management. Officials said the approach is designed to promote sustainable economic growth while safeguarding macroeconomic stability.

The document also draws attention to Morocco’s legislative elections, scheduled for September 23, describing them as a significant milestone for strengthening public confidence in democratic institutions and reinforcing the credibility of the country’s electoral process.

The government noted that the elections will usher in a new phase of Morocco’s development agenda, with the incoming administration expected to implement the priorities outlined in the 2027 budget.

In his Throne Day speech, King Mohammed VI highlighted Morocco’s steady progress in recent years, attributing the country’s achievements to political stability, robust institutions, and long-term strategic planning. He pointed to strong performance in key sectors, including automotive manufacturing, aerospace, renewable energy, tourism, and agriculture, alongside notable advances in social protection and human development.

The King also stressed the importance of addressing regional and social disparities through integrated local development initiatives and called for greater domestic financing to support investment, innovation, small and medium-sized enterprises, and major national projects.

Looking ahead, King Mohammed VI said the government formed after the upcoming legislative elections should launch a new phase of development by building on existing achievements, advancing structural reforms, and ensuring that Morocco’s long-term economic and social progress remains underpinned by sound public finances.
