Myanmar Motion Pictures Organization to Celebrate 79th Anniversary with Special Events

Yangon, The Gulf Observer: The Myanmar Motion Pictures Organization (MMPO) will celebrate its 79th anniversary on March 8 with a series of special programmes, including the unveiling of bronze statues of film pioneers and the opening of Centenary Square, an MMPO official announced during a media briefing at the organization’s office on March 4.
The celebrations will commence at 9 am with the statue unveiling ceremony, followed by interactive sessions with MMPO’s film training graduates, actors from the video era, and receptionists who served at the Myanmar Film Academy Award ceremonies. The event will conclude with a communal meal.
At 12:30 pm, the classic film ‘Ngaba’ will be screened at the Golden Jubilee Hall, while a lively event will take place from 3 pm to 6 pm at the MMPO premises, featuring karaoke, games, free food and drinks, and a lucky draw offering prizes ranging from K10,000 to K300,000 for underprivileged artistes.
“This year, we are celebrating the anniversary on a larger scale, aiming to include all film professionals from various roles and levels,” said MMPO Secretary U Zaw Myint Oo.
As part of the celebrations, the Myanmar Motion Pictures Museum will also open to the public, showcasing the rich history of the country’s film industry.
