Oman and Singapore Strengthen Bilateral Ties with Strategic Initiatives and Investment Opportunities

Muscat, The Gulf Observer: The Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Singapore continue to strengthen their bilateral relations through strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing cooperation in various sectors, with a particular focus on shared goals such as achieving zero net emissions by 2050.

Dr. Mohamed Maliki Osman, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office, Second Minister for Foreign Affairs, and Second Minister for Education of Singapore, emphasized the depth of historic ties between the two nations. Speaking to Oman News Agency (ONA), he highlighted the shared objectives and future visions that underpin the partnership, particularly in the areas of sustainable development and environmental goals.

The recent 2nd Strategic Dialogue between Oman and Singapore, held in Muscat, reinforced the commitment of both countries’ leadership to further enhance cooperation. The dialogue also explored available investment opportunities in sectors that are crucial to both nations’ growth, including trade, education, and technology.

Marking a significant milestone, the event celebrated the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Oman and Singapore. During the ceremony, Dr. Maliki Osman underscored that Oman is now Singapore’s 7th largest trade partner in the MENA region, a testament to the robust economic ties between the two countries.

Both countries also agreed to elevate their diplomatic representation, with plans to upgrade their general consulates to embassies by 2023, further solidifying their long-standing partnership.
