Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre Implements Major Solar Energy Project

Muscat, The Gulf Observer: The Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre (OCEC) has implemented a major solar panels project as part of its commitment to sustainability and clean energy transition.
The project features an integrated solar energy system with a generation capacity of 4.6 megawatts and spans an area exceeding 16,000 square metres.
As part of the initiative, more than 8,000 high-efficiency solar panels have been installed, with an estimated annual electricity production of around 7,000 megawatt-hours.
According to OCEC, the solar energy project currently provides nearly 25 percent of the centre’s total electricity consumption, significantly enhancing energy efficiency and reducing dependence on conventional power sources.
The initiative has also contributed to reducing carbon emissions by more than 3,000 tonnes annually, reinforcing the centre’s environmental sustainability goals.
In addition, the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre has implemented a separate solar-powered water heating system. The project includes the installation of 250 solar panels and is designed to meet approximately 90 percent of the centre’s hot water requirements.
The solar water heating system is expected to further reduce reliance on traditional electrical systems and lower overall energy consumption associated with heating operations.
