Salalah, The Gulf Observer: The Directorate General of Heritage and Tourism in Dhofar Governorate, in collaboration with Al Hafa Development and Investment Company, organized a special event to mark World Heritage Day under the theme “Living Heritage and Emergency Response,” held at the Cultural Heritage Complex in the Al Hafa area.

The event aimed to highlight the historical and civilizational significance of cultural heritage while showcasing the efforts of relevant authorities and institutions in its protection and preservation. It also sought to enhance community awareness about the importance of safeguarding heritage assets and promote sustainable practices to ensure their transmission to future generations.

A key focus of the event was the role of emergency response in protecting cultural heritage. Participants were introduced to procedures and practices used to preserve historical sites and artifacts under exceptional circumstances, emphasizing the importance of coordinated efforts among government entities, the private sector, and local communities in safeguarding this shared human legacy.

The program featured an orientation tour that provided heritage specialists, enthusiasts, and school students with insights into the history of the site and its associated landmarks. Attendees were also introduced to traditional construction materials and restoration techniques.

Interactive activities formed a central part of the event, including hands-on restoration of pottery vessels and the assembly of miniature models of traditional houses, offering participants a practical understanding of heritage conservation methods.
