Oman to Celebrate His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik’s Accession Day
Muscat, The Gulf Observer: The Sultanate of Oman is set to celebrate His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik’s Accession Day on Saturday, January 11, marking the significant milestones achieved during the Renewed Renaissance under His Majesty’s leadership.
Since assuming power, His Majesty has led Oman through extensive reforms aligned with the goals of Oman Vision 2040, achieving remarkable progress across legal, administrative, financial, commercial, and investment sectors. This transformation includes the modernization of systems of governance, integrity, accountability, and auditing.
In the past five years, Oman has witnessed the issuance of 470 Royal Decrees, signifying significant developments in various areas. These decrees include updates to laws governing economic activities, such as the Securities Law, Labour Law, and Public Debt Law, all of which have paved the way for greater economic diversification and stability.
Legal experts have praised the approach of His Majesty Sultan Haitham, noting that these legislative changes have contributed to the modernization of Oman’s legal and administrative apparatus, ensuring a strong foundation for sustainable development.
Jamal Salim Al Nabhani, Spokesman for the Ministry of Justice and Legal Affairs, emphasized the importance of the new laws in driving political, social, and economic progress. He pointed to key reforms, such as the establishment of the Social Protection Authority and the issuance of the Social Protection Law, which centralize and streamline the country’s social welfare efforts.
Sariya Khalfan Al Hadi, a Member of the State Council, highlighted the role of these legislative changes in supporting Oman Vision 2040, with new laws aimed at enhancing the business environment, attracting foreign investment, and promoting social justice. She particularly noted the issuance of the Media Law, designed to regulate media activities while ensuring freedom of expression in line with Oman’s constitutional principles.
Dr. Ahmed Ali Al Sa’adi, a member of the Shura Council, spoke on the impact of new economic legislation in attracting investments and improving the country’s business climate, thus contributing to the diversification of Oman’s economy.
Khalifa Marhoun Al Rahbi, Deputy Chairman of the Omani Lawyers Association, emphasized that the new laws are a reflection of Oman’s forward-thinking leadership, which is committed to building a prosperous future based on solid legal foundations. He added that the reforms have contributed to social welfare, the empowerment of women, and the protection of workers’ rights.
As Oman celebrates His Majesty Sultan Haitham’s Accession Day, the country’s renewed legal and developmental frameworks will continue to serve as a strong foundation for achieving sustainable growth and prosperity in line with the strategic goals of Oman Vision 2040.
