New York, The Gulf Observer: Pakistan has renewed its call for an end to the economic, commercial, and financial embargo imposed on Cuba, urging the international community to support measures that would ease humanitarian challenges and promote sustainable development in the Caribbean nation.

Speaking during the second debate of the United Nations General Assembly on the agenda item, “Necessity of ending the economic, commercial and financial embargo imposed by the United States of America against Cuba,” Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, emphasized the need to lift the longstanding embargo.

Ambassador Ahmad said ending the embargo would help alleviate the humanitarian situation in Cuba, enable the Cuban people to fully realize their right to development and prosperity, and reaffirm the principles of multilateralism and international cooperation.

He reiterated Pakistan’s support for constructive international engagement and underscored the importance of resolving global challenges through dialogue, cooperation, and respect for the purposes and principles of the United Nations Charter.
