Tashkent Hosts 150th IPU Assembly as Governing Council Elects Tanzila Narbayeva as President

Tashkent, The Gulf Observer: The 150th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) is currently underway in Tashkent, bringing together parliamentarians from around the world to foster dialogue, cooperation, and the strengthening of inter-parliamentary relations. Central to the Assembly’s agenda is the advancement of joint efforts to promote peace and global cooperation through parliamentary diplomacy.
As part of the Assembly’s proceedings, a meeting of the IPU Governing Council was held today, chaired by IPU President Tulia Ackson. During the session, an important organizational matter was addressed — the nomination of the President of the current Assembly.
In accordance with the event’s agenda, a proposal was submitted to elect Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, H.E. Tanzila Narbayeva, as President of the 150th IPU Assembly. The Governing Council unanimously supported and approved her candidacy.
Upon her election, Chairperson Narbayeva expressed her sincere gratitude to the members of the IPU for their trust and confidence. She reaffirmed her commitment to upholding the values of the IPU and working collectively with parliamentarians worldwide to advance peace, inclusive dialogue, and sustainable development.
