Phạm Minh Chính Honors Vietnamese Women’s Contributions on International Women’s Day

Hanoi, The Gulf Observer: Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính extended his heartfelt wishes to Vietnamese women on International Women’s Day, recognizing their pivotal role in the development of families, communities, and the nation.
Chairing a meeting with female generals, armed forces heroines, labor heroines, and female scientists, the Prime Minister also attended the 40th anniversary celebration of the Kovalevskaia Award and the announcement of the 2024 winners.
Emphasizing the vital contributions of women in all sectors, PM Chính proposed expanding recognition beyond the Kovalevskaia Award, calling for similar honors in fields such as economy, culture, and humanities, as well as awards for young female scientists.
He reaffirmed the Vietnamese Party and State’s commitment to gender equality, implementing policies that protect women’s rights and enhance their role in society. He highlighted Vietnam’s achievement of the Millennium Development Goal on gender equality ahead of schedule and its global ranking of 72nd out of 146 countries in gender equality. The high representation of women in the National Assembly (30.26%) and their strong presence in business leadership (51% of enterprises) further demonstrate their growing influence.
PM Chính also noted Vietnam’s leadership in women’s participation in UN peacekeeping missions. He urged continued efforts to foster high-quality female human resources, particularly among young female scientists, ethnic minority women, and those in remote areas.
On this occasion, the prestigious 2024 Kovalevskaia Award was presented to Associate Professor Dr. Nguyễn Minh Tân and Associate Professor Dr. Đặng Thị Mỹ Dung for their exceptional contributions to scientific research and technological advancements in Vietnam.
