President Emomali Rahmon Awarded UN University for Peace Certificate of Recognition

Dushanbe, The Gulf Observer: A ceremony was held on May 25 at the Palace of the Nation to present the United Nations University for Peace Certificate of Recognition to Emomali Rahmon, President of the Republic of Tajikistan and Leader of the Nation.
The prestigious award was conferred in recognition of President Rahmon’s significant contribution to peace, the development of regional cooperation, and his consistent efforts to strengthen friendship and mutual understanding among nations.
The award particularly acknowledged the signing of the historic agreement on the settlement of state border issues between Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan, as well as the adoption of the Khujand Declaration on Eternal Friendship and the promotion of global initiatives related to water resources and climate protection.
The contribution of President Rahmon toward the implementation of the International Decade for Action, “Water for Sustainable Development, 2018–2028,” was also highlighted, alongside his efforts in advancing the Resolution on the International Decade of Action for Cryospheric Sciences and the initiative titled “Decade of Strengthening Peace for Future Generations.”
According to officials, the award was approved on May 19, 2026, by the Rector of the United Nations University for Peace, Francisco Rojas Aravena, and was formally presented to President Rahmon by the University’s Permanent Representative, David Fernández Puyana.
The United Nations University for Peace established the recognition to honour distinguished individuals and states that have demonstrated exceptional achievements in peacebuilding and the promotion of international understanding.
The award ceremony underscored the international recognition of President Rahmon’s role in strengthening regional peace and stability, as well as his continued efforts to advance the global water and climate agenda through international cooperation and diplomacy.
