Ankara, The Gulf Observer: President Recep Tayyip Erdogan emphasized Türkiye’s relentless endeavors to bring global attention to Israel’s actions during the four-month-long conflict in Gaza. Addressing the 5th General Assembly of the Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum via a video message on Friday, Erdogan underscored the nation’s concerted efforts to shed light on human rights abuses and war crimes committed by Israel on the international stage.

President Erdogan stressed the significance of collective diplomatic action among Islamic countries in response to the oppression in Gaza. He outlined ongoing diplomatic initiatives aimed at fostering joint responses and solidarity among nations affected by Israel’s actions.

Furthermore, Erdogan reiterated Türkiye’s unwavering commitment to supporting the establishment of an independent, sovereign Palestinian state recognized worldwide. “We will persist in our efforts until an independent, territorially integral Palestinian state is founded based on the 1967 borders, with Jerusalem as its capital,” he affirmed.

The Gaza conflict, triggered by a cross-border attack by Hamas on October 7, prompted a deadly Israeli offensive. The toll stands at a staggering at least 27,585 Palestinians killed and 66,978 others injured. Tragically, nearly 1,200 Israelis are believed to have lost their lives in the conflict.

The aftermath of the Israeli offensive has left 85 percent of Gaza’s population internally displaced, facing severe shortages of essential resources such as food, clean water, and medicine. The UN reports that 60 percent of the enclave’s infrastructure has been damaged or destroyed.

Despite an interim ruling by the International Court of Justice last month, instructing Israel to cease its abuses, the international community observes that Israel continues to disregard the ruling.

President Erdogan’s address reiterates Türkiye’s unwavering commitment to championing justice, accountability, and the establishment of a Palestinian state, marking the nation’s persistent stance on the global stage.
