President Ilham Aliyev Receives Georgian Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development in Baku

Baku, The Gulf Observer: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received Georgia’s Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Mariam Kvrivishvili, in Baku on Thursday, reaffirming the close and strategic partnership between the two neighboring countries.

President Aliyev congratulated Mariam Kvrivishvili on her recent appointment, emphasizing that her visit to Azerbaijan so soon after assuming office is a strong reflection of the enduring friendship and close cooperation between Azerbaijan and Georgia.

Minister Kvrivishvili expressed her gratitude for the warm welcome and congratulations, stating that it was an honor to meet with the Azerbaijani head of state. She conveyed greetings from the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, to President Aliyev.

President Aliyev warmly reciprocated the sentiments and asked that his best wishes be conveyed to Prime Minister Kobakhidze. He fondly recalled that following Georgia’s parliamentary elections, Prime Minister Kobakhidze chose Azerbaijan for his first foreign visit in January of this year—a gesture President Aliyev described as a clear testament to the friendship and brotherhood shared between the two countries.

Minister Kvrivishvili praised President Aliyev’s leadership on the global stage and highlighted the high regard in which he is held in Georgia, describing him as a friend of the Georgian people.

The meeting also included discussions on the wide-ranging agenda of Azerbaijan-Georgia bilateral relations. Both sides underscored the strategic importance of cooperation in key sectors such as energy and transportation, noting that the implementation of joint projects carries significance not only for Azerbaijan and Georgia but also for the broader region.

The two parties further emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral and multilateral cooperation in the areas of connectivity, trade, investment, and sustainable development. They expressed optimism regarding the potential for expanding collaboration across diverse economic sectors.

It was noted that Azerbaijan remains one of Georgia’s principal trade partners. Both sides acknowledged the substantial opportunities for increasing bilateral trade turnover and exchanged views on advancing joint economic projects aimed at deepening the economic partnership between the two nations.
