President Pezeshkian Says Ayatollah Khamenei’s Funeral Marks Commitment to Continue His Path

Tehran, The Gulf Observer: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said on Sunday that the mass funeral ceremonies for the late Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, represent a renewed commitment to continue his legacy rather than a farewell.
Speaking in an interview with Iran’s official broadcaster during the funeral proceedings, President Pezeshkian said he rejected the description of the event as a farewell, emphasizing that it symbolized a pledge to carry forward Ayatollah Khamenei’s path.
“I do not accept the interpretation of ‘farewell.’ This is not a farewell, but rather a pledge to continue the path,” the president said.
President Pezeshkian extended his condolences over the death of Ayatollah Khamenei, members of his family, and all those who, he said, lost their lives in the war defending the honor and dignity of Iran and Islam.
He stated that although Iran’s adversaries had sought to destabilize the region by launching military action against the country, the conflict had instead strengthened unity and solidarity among Muslims.
The Iranian president also accused Israel, with the support of the United States and several European countries, of being responsible for violence in the region. He further alleged that the conflict had exposed what he described as the falsehood of Western claims regarding freedom and human rights.
Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, according to Iranian authorities, was assassinated in a U.S.-Israeli airstrike on February 28. His funeral ceremonies have drawn large crowds across Iran, with senior government officials, military leaders, and members of the public attending to pay their respects.
