Dushanbe, The Gulf Observer: The Government of Tajikistan has identified industrial development as one of the key priorities of its economic policy since the country gained independence, implementing comprehensive measures to ensure the efficient use of national resources and strengthen domestic production capacity.

President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon made these remarks on July 9 while addressing a meeting with regional leaders, public representatives of Sughd Province, and workers from the country’s industrial sector in Bobojon Ghafurov District.

The President stated that the consistent implementation of the government’s industrial policy has enabled Tajikistan to gradually transition from an economy primarily dependent on raw material exports to a production-oriented economy.

He emphasized that the development of the ferrous metallurgy sector holds strategic importance and has the potential to significantly enhance the country’s industrial and economic capabilities.

President Rahmon noted that Tajikistan possesses abundant reserves of metallic minerals, stressing that the country’s objective extends beyond mineral extraction to establishing a complete industrial value chain—from geological exploration and mining to the production of finished metallurgical products.

He further highlighted that, to achieve this goal, the government is prioritizing the expansion of the processing industry, the adoption of advanced technologies, and the production of import-substituting and export-oriented industrial goods, aimed at strengthening the nation’s economic resilience and competitiveness.
