President Ramaphosa to Honour Fallen Police Officers at Annual SAPS Commemoration Day

Pretoria, The Gulf Observer: South African President Cyril Ramaphosa will on Sunday join the families, colleagues and fellow members of the South African Police Service (SAPS) to honour police officers who lost their lives in the line of duty.

Ramaphosa will attend the annual SAPS Commemoration Day at the SAPS Memorial Site at the Union Buildings in Pretoria, where the nation will pay tribute to officers who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving the people of South Africa.

According to the Presidency, the solemn ceremony will provide an opportunity to remember and honour SAPS members who died while carrying out their duties and protecting communities across the country.

This year’s commemoration will pay tribute to 12 SAPS members who lost their lives in the line of duty during the 12-month period from April 1, 2025, to March 31, 2026.

The annual event brings together the families and colleagues of fallen officers, as well as senior government and police officials, to commemorate their service, sacrifice and commitment to the safety and security of South Africa.

The ceremony at the Union Buildings will serve as a national tribute to the fallen officers and their enduring contribution to the country.
