President Tokayev Attends Inaugural Open Table Tennis Cup

Astana, The Gulf Observer: President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev attended the Open Table Tennis Cup of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, witnessing a show match featuring some of the world’s top table tennis stars.

The Head of State interacted with renowned athletes and legends, including Olympic champion Xu Xin (China), world champion Werner Schlager (Austria), world team champion Fang Bo (China), and World Championships silver medalist Joo Sae-hyuk (Republic of Korea).

Held for the first time, the tournament is a landmark event in Kazakhstan’s sporting calendar, drawing over 300 participants from 14 countries. The competition features players ranked in the top 100 of the ITTF world rankings, alongside the country’s strongest national athletes.

The event highlights Kazakhstan’s growing engagement in international table tennis, providing a platform for local players to compete with world-class talent while promoting the sport domestically.
