President Tokayev Calls for Stronger Regional Partnership at Central Asia-Azerbaijan Leaders’ Meeting
Bishkek, The Gulf Observer: President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has reaffirmed his country’s commitment to strengthening regional cooperation, describing the recently concluded Treaty of Friendship, Good-Neighborliness and Cooperation for the Development of Central Asia in the 21st Century as a historic milestone in advancing strategic partnership among regional nations.
Addressing the informal meeting of the leaders of Central Asia and Azerbaijan, President Tokayev thanked Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov for the warm hospitality and for hosting the high-level gathering, according to the Akorda presidential press service.
Highlighting the longstanding ties between Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, Tokayev said the two nations are bound by shared history, culture, and enduring values of friendship, trust, kinship, and mutual support inherited from their ancestors.
He praised Kyrgyzstan’s recent socio-economic progress, saying the country’s prosperity is essential for the stability and sustainable development of the entire Central Asian region. Tokayev also commended President Zhaparov’s leadership, attributing Kyrgyzstan’s achievements to his dedicated efforts and vision.
The Kazakh president said the meeting provided an important platform to exchange views on key regional issues and identify new priorities for multilateral cooperation.
He noted that the growing frequency of high-level engagements among Central Asian countries reflects their collective determination to deepen constructive cooperation for the benefit of their peoples and the prosperity of the region.
President Tokayev described the completion of the signing process for the Treaty of Friendship, Good-Neighborliness and Cooperation for the Development of Central Asia in the 21st Century as a landmark achievement. He said the agreement establishes a new political framework for regional collaboration based on mutual trust, respect, and shared responsibility for the future of Central Asia.
He emphasized that the treaty represents a significant step forward in strengthening strategic partnerships and fostering long-term peace, stability, and sustainable development across the region.
