Qatar Joins Global Earth Hour Movement in Support of Environmental Conservation

Doha, The Gulf Observer: In a resounding display of commitment to environmental stewardship, Qatar embraced the global Earth Hour initiative yesterday, dimming the lights of numerous buildings for an hour to underscore solidarity with the planet and raise awareness about pressing environmental concerns.

The 60th Earth Hour, celebrated worldwide under the theme ‘Unite for our Planet’, witnessed active participation from ministries, governmental bodies, and private organizations, which symbolically switched off their headquarters’ lights from 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm local time.

The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MoECC), through its X platform, encouraged individuals to partake in sustainable practices, thereby contributing to the welfare of the planet.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Municipality demonstrated its commitment to environmental preservation by dimming the lights of its headquarters, emphasizing its alignment with community initiatives aimed at reducing carbon emissions and combating climate change in line with Qatar’s National Vision 2030.

Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa) echoed the sentiment, urging citizens to engage in activities that leave a positive footprint, such as spending time with family or exercising in nature, to commemorate the global event.
