Qatar Welcomes ICJ Decision, Urges Israel to Ensure Entry of Essential Supplies to Gaza

Doha, The Gulf Observer: The State of Qatar has extended a warm welcome to the decision rendered by the International Court of Justice (ICJ), mandating Israel to take immediate and effective measures to facilitate the entry of essential food supplies to the population of Gaza.

In a statement issued today, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reaffirmed Qatar’s support for the ICJ decision, emphasizing the urgent need to address the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza exacerbated by impediments to relief aid and the targeting of civilians, including vulnerable groups such as children and women, in aid distribution areas.

The Ministry underscored the critical importance of full compliance with the ICJ order, including the immediate opening of crossings, to avert the looming threat of famine in Gaza and mitigate the risks of genocide.

Furthermore, the Ministry emphasized the imperative for concerted international action to address the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, urging the global community to work towards a lasting ceasefire and prevent the proliferation of conflict-related catastrophes across the region.

Reiterating Qatar’s unwavering commitment to the justice of the Palestinian cause and the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, including the establishment of an independent state based on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, the Ministry affirmed Qatar’s steadfast support for the Palestinian people in their quest for self-determination and sovereignty.
