Romania Reaffirms Strong Commitment to NATO Amid Regional Security Challenges

Bucharest, The Gulf Observer: Romania has reaffirmed its strong commitment to the North Atlantic Alliance during a high-level meeting between Foreign Minister Oana Țoiu and Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone, the top military authority of NATO.
During the meeting, Minister Țoiu emphasized Romania’s long-standing dedication to strengthening the world’s most powerful defensive alliance, noting that over two decades of NATO membership have built strong public trust in the alliance among Romanian citizens—confidence she said can withstand any political challenges.
“We need NATO for our security, and the Allies know that they can, in turn, rely on us,” she stated.
The discussions came at a time when NATO is facing multiple simultaneous security challenges, including heightened regional tensions and the need for improved coordination and innovation among member states.
Minister Țoiu underlined Romania’s active role in shaping NATO’s evolving security agenda, highlighting upcoming strategic events, including the Bucharest-hosted B9 Summit next week and a NATO seminar on hybrid threats scheduled for the autumn.
The talks focused on key security priorities along NATO’s eastern flank and in the Black Sea region, with particular attention given to air defence capabilities and the Alliance’s response to recent drone-related security incidents.
Romania reiterated its commitment to contributing to collective defence efforts and strengthening NATO’s operational readiness in response to emerging threats.
