Saudi Cabinet Reaffirms Commitment to Global Peace and Security, Reviews Key International Initiatives

Riyadh, The Gulf Observer: The Saudi Council of Ministers, chaired by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman, reaffirmed the Kingdom’s commitment to fostering global peace and security during its Cabinet session on Tuesday. The session, held in Riyadh, highlighted the importance of dialogue in resolving international crises.

In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency, Minister of State, Cabinet Member, and Acting Minister of Media Dr. Essam bin Saad bin Saeed shared that the Cabinet expressed gratitude to Russian President Vladimir Putin for his positive remarks during a phone call with Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman. The call commended Saudi Arabia’s role in facilitating productive talks between Russia and the United States.

The Cabinet also reviewed the Crown Prince’s recent discussions with leaders from various nations, which focused on a range of regional and international matters. These talks were part of ongoing efforts to strengthen bilateral relations and foster cooperation on shared challenges.

Further, the Cabinet evaluated the outcomes of Saudi Arabia’s participation in recent regional and global meetings, reinforcing the Kingdom’s support for multilateral initiatives aimed at promoting sustainable development, prosperity, and addressing global challenges.

The Cabinet expressed optimism about the Riyadh International Humanitarian Forum, anticipating that it would contribute to unifying global efforts and finding innovative solutions for enhancing humanitarian responses in the face of rising global crises. The Kingdom’s long-standing commitment to providing international aid and relief was reiterated.

Additionally, the Cabinet commended the success of the inaugural AlUla Conference for Emerging Market Economies, co-organized by Saudi Arabia and the International Monetary Fund. The conference’s strategic vision, focused on international cooperation, was recognized for its potential to shape a promising global economic future.

Dr. Essam also noted the Kingdom’s presidency of the World Trade Organization’s General Council (2025-2026), which reinforces Saudi Arabia’s leadership in enhancing global trade systems.

The Cabinet reviewed the success of the fourth Saudi Media Forum held in Riyadh, noting the launch of initiatives aimed at supporting media business incubators, accelerating financial and regulatory transformation, and fostering talent development.

In terms of international agreements, the Cabinet approved a headquarters agreement to relocate the Gulf Petrochemicals and Chemicals Association’s headquarters to Riyadh and authorized the chairman of the King Fahad National Library to negotiate a cooperation MoU with Poland’s National Library.

Further approvals included MoUs with Tanzania on crime control, civil defense, and civil protection; with Brazil on mineral resources; and with Côte d’Ivoire and Bahrain on promoting direct investment. The Cabinet also approved agreements with the United States and Guinea in the fields of higher education and air transport services, respectively.

Finally, the Cabinet authorized discussions with Mexico on a draft MoU for cooperation in auditing and professional work between Saudi Arabia and the Superior Auditor of the Federation of Mexico.
