Starlink Muscat Secures Approval to Launch Satellite Broadband Services in Oman

Muscat, The Gulf Observer: The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) of Oman has granted approval to Starlink Muscat to commence broadband internet services across the country using satellite communication systems.
Starlink, operated through low-earth orbit (LEO) satellites, is set to provide high-speed broadband internet, particularly targeting remote areas where conventional high-speed internet services are unavailable.
The company will ensure nationwide coverage, including universal service areas, with internet speeds reaching up to 100 Mbps. Additionally, Starlink will offer advanced connectivity solutions for communication towers in challenging terrains, further accelerating Oman’s digital transformation.
The introduction of satellite internet services is expected to benefit key economic sectors, including oil and gas, mining, tourism, and agriculture. It will also enhance market competition among telecom providers, expand consumer choices, improve internet quality and speed, and support various business sectors.
Starlink Muscat was officially granted a first-category license under Royal Decree No. 42/2023, issued on June 20, 2023, authorizing it to establish and operate a satellite communication system for providing fixed public communication services in Oman.
With this development, residents, businesses, and government entities can now access reliable satellite internet solutions through Starlink.
