Tajikistan Launches Electronic Permit System to Modernize International Transport Services

Tajikistan

Dushanbe, The Gulf Observer: Tajikistan has launched a new Electronic Permit System and centralized payment platform aimed at simplifying and digitizing the issuance and exchange of transport permits, marking a significant step toward modernizing the country’s transport sector.

According to the Ministry of Transport of Tajikistan, the system was developed with the support of the European Union and the German government to streamline the issuance of permits for international transportation while enhancing the efficiency, transparency and security of transport services.

As part of the initiative, the transport ministers of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan signed an agreement on the exchange of electronic permits, known as ePermits. During the initial phase of implementation, Tajikistan successfully transmitted its first 100 electronic permits to Uzbekistan through the newly established digital mechanism.

The Electronic Permit System and centralized payment platform were upgraded under the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor Capacity Development Program, which is funded by the European Union and the German government and implemented by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ).

The new platform offers transport companies a secure and integrated digital environment for submitting group applications, managing permit allocation and monitoring permit utilization. Officials said the system also strengthens the efficiency and transparency of financial transactions.

Integrated with banking networks and mobile payment services, the centralized payment platform enables online verification of transactions, automatic reconciliation of data and improved financial transparency through advanced information security measures.

Authorities noted that the introduction of the system has significantly reduced the time required to obtain transport permits, supporting the ongoing digital transformation of the transport sector and facilitating smoother international freight transportation across the region.
