Tajikistan, SpaceX/Starlink Discuss Cooperation Roadmap Following Satellite Internet Launch

Dushanbe, The Gulf Observer: Prospects for expanding technological cooperation following the official launch of Starlink operations in Tajikistan were discussed during an online meeting between representatives of the Agency for Innovation and Digital Technologies under the President of Tajikistan and SpaceX/Starlink, according to media reports.
During the meeting, the Agency for Innovation and Digital Technologies presented a draft roadmap for cooperation aimed at expanding the use of satellite internet and advanced digital technologies across various sectors of the country.
The proposed roadmap envisages the deployment of satellite internet at healthcare and educational institutions, the provision of public services, and the connection of government agencies located in remote and hard-to-reach areas.
The cooperation framework also includes potential collaboration in emerging technological fields, including the implementation of artificial intelligence solutions, the development of digital mapping systems and the establishment of energy-efficient “green” computing infrastructure.
The initiatives are expected to contribute to expanding digital connectivity, improving access to essential services and supporting the digital transformation of public institutions, particularly in geographically remote areas.
Following the online meeting, the parties agreed to continue their cooperation with the aim of finalizing and subsequently implementing the proposed roadmap.
The participants also emphasized that the launch of Starlink operations in Tajikistan represents an important foundation for establishing a long-term technological partnership and expanding cooperation in satellite communications, digital technologies and innovation.
The development of satellite-based connectivity is expected to support Tajikistan’s broader digital transformation efforts by improving internet access in areas where conventional telecommunications infrastructure remains limited, while creating new opportunities for the application of advanced technologies in public services, education, healthcare and government administration.
