Trump, Iraqi Prime Minister Al-Zaidi Discuss Economic Partnership, Regional Security at White House

Washington, The Gulf Observer: U.S. President Donald Trump on Wednesday met Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi at the White House to discuss strengthening bilateral relations, expanding economic cooperation, and enhancing security coordination between the two countries.
During the meeting, the two leaders explored opportunities to deepen economic ties, with particular emphasis on increasing the participation of U.S. companies in Iraq’s development projects, especially in the energy and oil sectors.
President Trump reaffirmed the United States’ commitment to supporting Iraq’s stability and economic development, recalling Washington’s role in assisting Iraq in the fight against the Daesh terrorist group.
He said the United States continues to support Prime Minister Al-Zaidi’s government in advancing economic initiatives that strengthen the strategic partnership between the two countries and underscored Iraq’s growing importance in the global energy market and international economy.
Prime Minister Al-Zaidi stressed that Iraq requires a strategic partner of the United States’ stature to address the economic and technological challenges facing the country.
According to a statement issued by the Iraqi Prime Minister’s Media Office, the discussions also covered bilateral relations, security and intelligence cooperation, and joint efforts to promote stability across the region.
Speaking after the meeting in the Oval Office, Prime Minister Al-Zaidi said his visit to Washington is aimed at establishing a robust economic partnership focused on creating mutually beneficial opportunities for both nations.
He emphasized that Iraq’s development plans and proposed economic cooperation with the United States are intended to serve the interests of all regions and communities across the country while supporting sustainable growth and modernization.
The meeting reflected the continued commitment of both Baghdad and Washington to strengthening their long-standing partnership through enhanced economic collaboration, security cooperation, and regional engagement.
