Türkiye Establishes New Cybersecurity Presidency to Combat Growing Threats
Ankara, The Gulf Observer: Türkiye has taken a significant step in addressing the rising cyber threats with the establishment of the Cybersecurity Presidency. Announced on Wednesday, this new agency will be responsible for implementing the decisions of the newly formed Cybersecurity Board, which will be chaired by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The board will include representatives from key ministries such as Interior, Justice, National Defence, Transport and Infrastructure, and Industry and Technology.
The Cybersecurity Presidency is tasked with formulating policies, strategies, and targets to safeguard the country’s cybersecurity landscape. It will also develop action plans, lead projects to enhance cybersecurity and information security, and foster cooperation between the public and private sectors, as well as academic institutions, to address cyber threats.
This move is part of Türkiye’s broader efforts to strengthen its defenses against cyberattacks and protect critical information infrastructures, a roadmap for which was outlined by the government last year.
Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz expressed his hopes for the new agency, stating on social media platform X, “I hope the Cybersecurity Presidency, which was established to prevent cyber threats to our country and to ensure the necessary coordination between institutions in this field, will be beneficial to our nation.”
The creation of the Cybersecurity Presidency underscores Türkiye’s commitment to tackling the growing cyber challenges and ensuring the security of its digital infrastructure.
