Turkmen Delegation Discusses Key Cooperation with Japanese Officials in Tokyo

Tokyo, The Gulf Observer: A high-level Turkmen delegation, led by Rahimberdi Jepbarov, Chairman of the State Bank for Foreign Economic Activities, held productive meetings with key Japanese officials during their visit to Tokyo from February 17 to 19, 2025. The delegation engaged in discussions on large-scale projects in the petrochemical, energy, and other sectors, marking a significant step in enhancing bilateral economic cooperation.

One of the central meetings was with Nobumitsu Hayashi, Chairman of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), where both sides explored opportunities for collaboration in large-scale projects and the potential for leveraging Japanese technologies to support the growth of Turkmenistan’s economy.

In addition to discussions on these key sectors, the delegation also sought to identify new areas of financial and economic cooperation. The visit highlighted the important role of Japanese technology in the modernization and development of Turkmenistan’s industrial sectors.

As part of their working visit, the Turkmen delegation met with Akihisa Nagashima, Japan’s Special Advisor to the Prime Minister, to discuss trade and economic relations between the two nations. They also explored Turkmenistan’s participation in EXPO 2025 in Osaka, with plans for the organization of Turkmenistan’s National Day at the exhibition.

Further strengthening ties, the delegation held a meeting with Tetsuo Endo, Chairman of the Japan-Turkmenistan Parliamentary Friendship Group. The talks focused on cooperation in the transport, gas, and chemical industries, as well as opportunities to bolster diplomatic and economic partnerships.

Additionally, the delegation met with Atsuo Kuroda, Chairman of NEXI (Japan Export-Import Bank), to discuss potential collaboration and financial support for key projects in Turkmenistan.

The visit underscored the growing and multifaceted partnership between Turkmenistan and Japan, with a focus on enhancing trade, investment, and technology transfer in vital sectors.
