Turkmen Delegation Participates in Central Asia–GCC Strategic Dialogue in Kuwait

Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: A delegation from Turkmenistan, led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ahmet Gurbanov, visited Kuwait City on April 15–16 to take part in the third Central Asia–Gulf Cooperation Council (CA–GCC) Strategic Dialogue ministerial meeting, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan announced.

The high-level forum brought together the foreign ministers of Central Asian countries and representatives of the six Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states—Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, and Bahrain. Discussions focused on strengthening multilateral cooperation across a range of priority sectors, including trade, investment, transport and logistics, environmental protection, tourism, and humanitarian exchanges.

During the meeting, the Turkmen delegation put forward a series of initiatives designed to deepen partnerships in key areas such as transport and logistics, energy, the economy, and cultural and humanitarian cooperation. These proposals align with Turkmenistan’s broader vision of fostering regional connectivity and sustainable development.

As part of the visit, Deputy Minister Gurbanov was received by the Crown Prince of the State of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah. The meeting reaffirmed the longstanding and friendly relations between Turkmenistan and Kuwait, and emphasized both nations’ commitment to advancing cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

On the sidelines of the Strategic Dialogue, Deputy Minister Gurbanov also held bilateral talks with the heads of the delegations from the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Sultanate of Oman. The discussions addressed the current status of bilateral cooperation, opportunities for expanded engagement, and the implementation of regional frameworks such as the Ashgabat Agreement, which envisions the creation of an international transport and transit corridor linking Iran, Oman, Qatar, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.

The CA–GCC Strategic Dialogue serves as a key platform for enhancing interregional cooperation and promoting political, economic, and cultural ties between Central Asia and the Gulf.
