Athens, The Gulf Observer: Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and Managing Director and Group CEO of ADNOC, concluded an official visit to the Hellenic Republic aimed at deepening the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the United Arab Emirates and Greece. He was accompanied by senior UAE government officials and representatives from leading UAE companies.
The high-level delegation included officials from ADNOC, Masdar, ADQ, Mubadala Investment Company, EDGE Group, PureHealth, MGX, 2PointZero, and Presight, reflecting the UAE’s commitment to expanding bilateral cooperation across key economic sectors.
The visit built on the outcomes of Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis’s visit to the UAE in February 2025 and reviewed progress under the €4 billion UAE-Greece Joint Investment Fund launched in May 2022. Discussions covered strengthening investment flows and expanding partnerships in strategic areas such as energy, technology, infrastructure, and defence.
During his visit, Dr. Al Jaber held a series of high-level meetings with Greek leadership, including Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, to whom he conveyed greetings from UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The two sides reaffirmed their shared commitment to enhancing bilateral ties and explored new avenues for collaboration in advanced industries and strategic sectors.
In meetings with Deputy Prime Minister Kostis Hatzidakis and Minister for National Defence Nikos Dendias, Dr. Al Jaber discussed the ongoing implementation of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and explored opportunities to deepen cooperation in defence-related technologies, manufacturing, and knowledge exchange.
As part of the visit, both sides confirmed their ongoing commitment to the UAE-Greece double taxation agreement, reinforcing a shared interest in fostering a stable and investor-friendly economic environment.
A strategic dialogue titled “Forging the Next Chapter of Economic Partnership” was also convened, bringing together senior representatives from UAE and Greek public and private sectors. The forum emphasized joint opportunities in renewable energy, advanced technology, data centers, infrastructure, and industrial development.
Dr. Al Jaber also toured the Athens headquarters of TERNA Energy—recently acquired by Masdar—where he reviewed expansion plans with Executive Chairman Georgios Peristeris and visited core facilities showcasing the company’s clean energy capabilities across Southeastern and Central Europe.
The UAE delegation included notable figures such as Dr. Ali Al Dhaheri, UAE Ambassador to Greece; Badr Jafar, Special Envoy of the Minister of Foreign Affairs for Business and Philanthropy; Hamad Al Hammadi (ADQ), Mohamed Al Ramahi (Masdar), Meera Al Suwaidi (Mubadala), Thomas Pramotedham (Presight), Mohamed Zafar (2PointZero), and Farhan Malik (PureHealth), among others.
Bilateral trade between the UAE and Greece has shown robust growth, reaching AED 2.22 billion in 2024—marking a 6 percent annual increase. In Q1 2025, trade surged by over 40 percent compared to the previous year, including a 140 percent jump in exports. Over the past five years, non-oil trade has expanded by 80 percent, demonstrating the long-term strength and strategic potential of UAE-Greece economic relations.
