UAE Welcomes Congo-Rwanda Peace Declaration, Praises International Mediation Efforts

Abu Dhabi, The Gulf Observer: The United Arab Emirates has warmly welcomed the signing of the Declaration of Principles between the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Republic of Rwanda, a significant step toward reinforcing peace and stability on the African continent. The agreement was signed in Washington, D.C., marking a major milestone in ongoing efforts to de-escalate tensions and promote regional cooperation.
Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of State, praised the commitment of all involved parties, particularly acknowledging the United States for its facilitation role, and the State of Qatar for hosting key dialogues in Doha. He also highlighted the contributions of the Nairobi and Luanda tracks, under the frameworks of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and the East African Community (EAC), with continued support from the African Union.
Sheikh Shakhboot emphasized that the Declaration reflects the power of international cooperation in addressing regional challenges. He reiterated the UAE’s belief in the importance of diplomatic solutions and collective action in resolving conflicts and achieving long-term development and security across the region.
He further affirmed the historic and strategic ties between the UAE and the African continent, underlining the Emirates’ continued commitment to supporting all peace-building initiatives that foster stability, prosperity, and regional unity.
The UAE’s endorsement of the agreement underscores its active role in promoting dialogue and constructive engagement in conflict resolution, particularly in Africa.
