Vietnam Calls for Immediate End to Russia-Ukraine Conflict at UN General Assembly

New York, The Gulf Observer: Vietnam has voiced deep concern over the prolonged conflict between Russia and Ukraine, urging an immediate cessation of hostilities and calling on all parties to refrain from actions that could escalate tensions.

Addressing an emergency special session of the UN General Assembly in New York on February 24, marking three years since the outbreak of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, Ambassador Đặng Hoàng Giang, Vietnam’s Permanent Representative to the UN, emphasized the urgent need to protect civilians and civilian infrastructure while ensuring the swift delivery of humanitarian aid.

Ambassador Giang reaffirmed Vietnam’s consistent stance on resolving international disputes through peaceful means, in full compliance with international law and the UN Charter. He stressed the importance of respecting the independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of states while refraining from the use or threat of force.

Highlighting Vietnam’s strong support for the UN’s role in maintaining international peace and security, the diplomat praised ongoing diplomatic initiatives aimed at fostering dialogue and ending the conflict. He emphasized that any resolution must be grounded in international law, the UN Charter, and a balanced consideration of the legitimate interests of all parties involved.

Giang further underscored that achieving a lasting peace requires consensus and inclusive participation, rather than deepening divisions and confrontation. He reiterated Vietnam’s commitment to actively contributing to diplomatic efforts and supporting Ukraine’s reconstruction and recovery, with the broader aim of ensuring peace and stability in the region and the world.
