Abdullah bin Zayed and Jordan’s FM Discuss Al Aqsa Mosque Violations
Abu Dhabi, The Gulf Observer: H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, held a crucial discussion with Ayman Al Safadi, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Jordan, regarding the alarming incidents at Al Aqsa Mosque. The conversation, held over the phone, focused on the serious repercussions of the storming and violations committed at the mosque by Israeli extremists last Tuesday.
During the call, both ministers strongly condemned the storming of Al Aqsa Mosque, particularly highlighting the provocative visit by radical and racist minister Itamar Ben-Gvir. They emphasized that such actions represent a serious and grave escalation, posing a significant threat to the stability of the region and potentially leading to increased levels of violence.
H.H. Sheikh Abdullah and Minister Al Safadi deliberated on the importance of joint coordinated steps to counter these violations. They stressed the necessity of establishing an international position that demands respect for the historical and legal status of the city of Jerusalem.
Furthermore, H.H. Sheikh Abdullah underscored the importance of respecting the custodial role of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan over the holy sites in Jerusalem. He reiterated that the authority of the Jerusalem Endowment Administration, which manages the affairs of Al Aqsa Mosque, should not be compromised. His Highness expressed the UAE’s full solidarity and support for all measures taken by Jordan to protect and preserve sites of religious significance.
In addition to addressing the situation at Al Aqsa Mosque, the two ministers called for an immediate ceasefire and an end to the ongoing humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza. They urged adherence to international law and the cessation of illegal practices throughout the Occupied Palestinian Territory.
H.H. Sheikh Abdullah and Minister Al Safadi also reaffirmed their support for the mediation efforts being led by Egypt, Qatar, and the United States to facilitate an exchange agreement, aiming to deescalate the tensions and bring about peace in the region.
