Saudi Foreign Minister Calls for Gaza Reconstruction, Regional Stability at G20 Meeting

Johannesburg, The Gulf Observer: Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan emphasized the need for unrestricted humanitarian aid delivery and reconstruction efforts in Gaza, highlighting the severe destruction of infrastructure due to the ongoing conflict.

Speaking at the G20 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in South Africa on Friday, Prince Faisal stressed that achieving a permanent resolution to the crisis is key to ensuring long-term stability in the region. He reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s commitment to a two-state solution, advocating for Palestinian self-determination as a foundation for lasting peace and security.

Regarding Syria, the minister underscored that stability depends on economic recovery and reconstruction, which require regional and international cooperation as well as the lifting of sanctions. He urged for investment in development and regional integration to prevent economic progress from being derailed by political conflicts.

On Lebanon, Prince Faisal highlighted the importance of electing a president and forming a government to advance essential reforms and ensure the authority of the state across the country, in accordance with relevant international agreements.

Discussing the conflict in Sudan, he called for sustained international engagement to facilitate a political resolution, security, and economic recovery.

The Saudi minister also stressed the strategic importance of Red Sea maritime security, warning that any disruption poses a global economic risk. He called for halting any activity that threatens the safety of navigation, emphasizing that the free flow of trade is in the interest of all nations.

“If we remain committed to preserving the rules-based international order and prioritizing sustainable peace, we can overcome risks and foster greater stability,” Prince Faisal concluded.
