Vietnam Holds National Seminar on Great Spring Victory 1975 and Path to Future Development

HCM City, The Gulf Observer: A national scientific seminar commemorating the Great Spring Victory of 1975 and outlining Vietnam’s trajectory toward a new era of development was held on Sunday in Ho Chi Minh City. The event was jointly organized by the Ministry of National Defence, the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Information, Education, and Mass Mobilisation, the Ministry of Public Security, the Hồ Chí Minh National Academy of Politics, and the municipal Party Committee.
In his opening address, Minister of National Defence General Phan Văn Giang emphasized the monumental importance of the 1975 Spring Offensive. He highlighted the historic triumph achieved under the strategic leadership of the Politburo and the command of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army. “This was the greatest victory in our nation’s liberation struggle under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam,” he said. “It is a shining, heroic chapter in Vietnam’s millennia-long history of national construction and defence.”
General Giang stressed that the victory symbolized not only military success but also the enduring strength, resilience, and unity of the Vietnamese people in their pursuit of peace and reunification. He noted that the lessons drawn from this chapter continue to inspire national efforts in development and defence.
Nguyễn Văn Nên, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, reflected on the city’s gratitude toward previous generations who had sacrificed for peace and reunification. He said the people of Ho Chi Minh City deeply recognize the historical value and sacredness of the nation’s unity. “The city is entering a transformative phase,” he noted, “poised to become a smart, modern, and globally integrated hub, advancing sustainable and inclusive growth in line with the Party’s strategic directions.”
Politburo member Nguyễn Trọng Nghĩa, who is also Secretary of the Party Central Committee and Chairman of its Commission for Information, Education, and Mass Mobilisation, reiterated the enduring significance of the 1975 victory. He emphasized that the resilience and determination of the army and people during that era continue to guide Vietnam’s path in the Hồ Chí Minh era, providing strength and pride for future progress.
The seminar featured more than 120 scholarly papers and presentations, delving into the Party’s strategic leadership and the legacy of President Hồ Chí Minh. Participants analyzed the distinctive military strategies employed during the anti-US resistance war and extracted practical lessons applicable to Vietnam’s current goals of building a modern, socialist nation.
The event served as a profound reflection on Vietnam’s historical journey and a strategic dialogue on its future development, reaffirming the nation’s commitment to unity, progress, and the ideals forged through its struggle for independence.
