Saudi Arabia Reaffirms Commitment to Two-State Solution at UN Preparatory Meeting for International Peace Conference

New York, The Gulf Observer: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia reiterated its firm stance on the necessity of ending the Israeli occupation and establishing an independent, viable Palestinian state as the only viable path toward ensuring lasting security and stability in the Middle East.
The statement was delivered by Dr. Manal Hassan Radwan, Advisor to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who led the Saudi delegation and co-chaired the preparatory meeting held Friday for the upcoming high-level international conference on a peaceful settlement of the Palestinian issue and the implementation of the two-state solution. The conference is scheduled to take place from June 17 to 20.
Dr. Radwan co-chaired the session alongside Anne-Claire Legendre, Advisor to the President of France. The meeting witnessed broad participation from UN member states, including high-level representatives from 19 countries and organizations that co-chair the eight thematic working groups preparing the expected outcomes of the conference.
In her remarks during the opening session, Dr. Radwan emphasized the importance of the upcoming conference as a potential turning point in the pursuit of a just and lasting peace in the region. “Ending the war, releasing hostages and detainees, and ensuring comprehensive regional security can only be achieved through a credible political process that addresses the root causes of the conflict,” she stated.
She also praised the recent reform initiatives launched by the Palestinian leadership and called for greater international support for the Palestinian government, highlighting Saudi Arabia’s unwavering commitment to the Arab Peace Initiative. She reaffirmed the Kingdom’s active role in launching the “Global Alliance for the Implementation of the Two-State Solution,” in partnership with the European Union and Norway.
The meeting featured briefings by the co-chairs of the eight working groups, who reviewed progress and proposed outcomes related to humanitarian assistance, reconstruction, security arrangements, institution building, and other core issues vital to the peace process.
UN Undersecretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs Rosemary DiCarlo also attended the meeting, which concluded with widespread expressions of support from member states for the Saudi-French initiative. Participants commended the leadership of the working groups and affirmed their commitment to contributing practical proposals to ensure the success of the upcoming conference.
The preparatory meeting marked a significant step toward convening a historic and impactful international dialogue aimed at achieving a comprehensive and sustainable resolution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
