London, The Gulf Observer: The Oman Pavilion has been awarded the prestigious Best Artwork Design Award at the London Design Biennale 2025 for its striking installation titled Memory Network by Omani architect and designer Haitham Al-Busaifi. The award was announced during the Biennale’s grand opening ceremony at Somerset House, London.

The winning installation represents a significant cultural achievement and reflects the strategic vision of the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Youth of the Sultanate of Oman to foster and promote artistic and intellectual innovation among Omani youth.

Created in collaboration with the Zawraq Group, Memory Network offers a modern reinterpretation of traditional Omani pottery, presented through a series of transparent structures arranged to echo the form and function of digital data centers. This juxtaposition explores enduring cultural values, intergenerational memory, and the evolving nature of social connections.

In harmony with the Biennale’s theme, “Surface Reflections,” the installation invites global audiences to consider what memories and experiences societies choose to retain, preserve, or leave behind. The exhibit’s interactive feature also enables visitors to contribute their own reflections and memories, which are then digitally integrated into the installation—creating a living archive of shared human experiences.

Marking Oman’s debut at the London Design Biennale, this award-winning entry highlights the nation’s growing presence on the global cultural map and underlines the Ministry’s commitment to celebrating Omani creativity and heritage on international platforms.
