Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Meets Newly Appointed Iranian Ambassador

Baku, The Gulf Observer: Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jeyhun Bayramov, met with Mojtaba Demirchilou, the newly appointed Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Azerbaijan.

During the meeting, Ambassador Demirchilou presented a copy of his credentials to Minister Bayramov. The Azerbaijani Foreign Minister congratulated him on his appointment and extended best wishes for a successful diplomatic tenure in Baku.

The discussions focused on strengthening bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and Iran, with particular attention to the current regional security environment and the ongoing Israel-Iran confrontation.

Both sides highlighted the importance of continued high-level dialogue and contacts between the leadership of the two countries. They emphasized that regular diplomatic engagement and discussions on matters of mutual interest are essential for enhancing friendly relations and fostering deeper cooperation.

Minister Bayramov reiterated Azerbaijan’s concerns regarding the growing tensions between Israel and Iran, and underscored the need for restraint, emphasizing the importance of resolving disputes through dialogue and diplomacy, in full accordance with international law.

He also offered condolences to the Iranian side over the recent deaths of Iran’s Chief of the General Staff and other senior officials, as well as Iranian citizens who lost their lives.

Ambassador Demirchilou expressed appreciation for Azerbaijan’s facilitation of cross-border movement for Iranian and foreign nationals through its territory. He reaffirmed Iran’s interest in expanding cooperation with Azerbaijan and thanked the Azerbaijani government for its support.

The two sides also exchanged views on other issues of shared concern and reaffirmed their commitment to continued dialogue and constructive engagement.
