Czech Swimmer David Kratochvíl Ends Junior Career with Six Golds and Two Records at European Para Youth Games

Istanbul, The Gulf Observer: Seventeen-year-old Czech para swimmer David Kratochvíl delivered a phenomenal performance at the European Para Youth Games in Istanbul, winning six gold medals in as many events and setting two new European records. The visually impaired athlete dominated the pool, triumphing in every start and cementing his status as one of Europe’s top young para swimmers.
Kratochvíl’s highlight came in the 400m freestyle, where he clocked an impressive 4:21.41 – just under a second away from breaking the world record set in 1992. He also shattered the European record in the 50m freestyle.
“I’m incredibly happy to finish my junior years like this,” said Kratochvíl after his historic feat. His next challenge will be the World Para Swimming Championships in Singapore this September.
Czech para-athletes had a strong showing overall at the Games, bringing home a total of 17 medals, including 11 golds, showcasing the growing strength of para sports in the country.
