Moroccan Foreign Minister Leads Delegation Ahead of Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit

Rabat, The Gulf Observer: Morocco is participating in a preparatory meeting of foreign ministers ahead of the emergency Arab-Islamic Summit in Doha, with Foreign Affairs Minister Nasser Bourita leading the Moroccan delegation.
The preparatory meeting on Sunday discussed a draft resolution to be submitted during the summit, convened in response to the Israeli attack on Doha on September 9. The Moroccan delegation also included Mohamed Ait Ouali, Morocco’s ambassador to Egypt and Permanent Representative to the League of Arab States, and Mohamed Setri, Morocco’s ambassador to Qatar.
The closed-door session focused on formulating a formal response to the Israeli strike, which targeted a residential compound earlier this week. Israel stated the operation aimed at Hamas leaders, while Qatar and the international community condemned the attack as “cowardly.”
Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani spoke with US President Donald Trump, denouncing the strike as a “flagrant violation of its sovereignty and security, and a clear breach of international law.” During the call, President Trump expressed solidarity with Qatar and emphasized that diplomatic solutions remain essential to resolving regional issues.
The attack resulted in at least six fatalities, including five reported by Hamas — among them the son and assistant of senior leader Khalil al-Hayya — and one Qatari security officer. Hamas leadership survived the assassination attempt, describing the strike as a “heinous crime, a blatant aggression, and a flagrant violation of all international norms and laws.”
Morocco condemned the attack, calling it a violation of Qatar’s sovereignty, and extended support to Doha in defending its security, territorial integrity, and the safety of its citizens and residents.
