Iran Blames US and Israel for Illegal Attacks on Peaceful Nuclear Facilities and Sovereignty Violations

Iran

Tehran, The Gulf Observer: Iran holds the United States and the Israeli regime responsible for the illegal attacks on its peaceful nuclear facilities, as well as violations of its territorial integrity and national sovereignty, the country’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson stated on Monday.

“We undoubtedly consider the Israeli regime and the United States responsible for the unlawful assaults against Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities,” said Esmaeil Baqaei, the Foreign Ministry’s spokesperson, during his weekly press conference in Tehran.

Baqaei made the remarks in response to a question from IRNA regarding recent comments by International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Secretary General Rafael Grossi, who clarified that he had never reported Iran as seeking nuclear weapons—comments seen as an attempt to counter justifications for potential military strikes on Iranian nuclear sites.

The spokesperson criticized the misuse of IAEA reports by the United States and three European countries, saying their actions had created a pretext for Israel and Washington to exploit the situation against Iran.

Baqaei further noted that even the IAEA chief himself had acknowledged that no IAEA report contained any evidence suggesting Iran’s nuclear program had deviated from its peaceful objectives.

“In such circumstances, it was expected that the IAEA would swiftly and firmly condemn the Israeli and American actions against Iran’s nuclear facilities,” he emphasized, reiterating Tehran’s stance that such attacks constitute clear violations of international law and the principles of the United Nations Charter.
